I put my cat to sleep today. My experience at Kanawha Boulevard Animal Hospital was by far the best I have ever had with putting a pet to sleep. They have a dedicated room out of the chaos where there is simply a couch, soft music, a big window and a mural on the wall. I was allowed to release my cat, who explored the room. We had plenty of time together before the first relaxation shot, then after that shot., In facts I had plenty of time to grieve even after the final shot that put her to sleep. The doctor and his assistant were so kind and patient with my cat and my grief. I will definitely take my next cat there. No rush; no pressure. No pain for my cat. Just grief and finally peace. Thank you so much for that experience.
I take my dog there for all her needs.
Caring and expert
I cannot express how grateful I am for the outstanding care my dog and cat, Bronn and Arya, have received at Kanawha Blvd Animal Hospital over their lifetime. Both veterinarians are absolutely wonderful, but we've spent most of our time with Dr. Eric Lee, who has been a true blessing for us. Dr. Lee listens attentively to my husband and I and never makes us feel rushed. He doesn’t push unnecessary tests and approaches every situation with a confident calmness. The most remarkable part is how he handles my 85 lb, 8-year-old fear-aggressive German Shepherd rescue. Too often, people misjudge my dog’s mouthiness and snarling, but Dr. Lee understands that rescue dogs can be challenging yet are often the biggest lovers. He brushes off my dog’s attitude with ease and always comments on how well I manage him, which reassures this Type A fur mom who often struggles with anxiety. It’s been a rollercoaster over the past couple of years with Bronn gaining weight, becoming Lyme positive, and partially tearing his ACL. These recent challenges have solidified my trust and confidence in this animal hospital. The suggestions both doctors have given me for joint supplements, medications, and food have truly been beneficial. Whenever there’s an issue, they assist in creating the best treatment plan possible, and if they can’t help, they provide excellent referrals, as I am now scheduling Bronn’s knee surgery. The technicians are also a blessing—so calm, collected, and kind. When Bronn had X-rays, the tech trimmed and filed his nails so neatly while waiting for him to wake up. Just that extra thought and care means so much. I also have a 9-year-old Bengal cat, Arya, who is typically well-mannered. This past year, she needed blood work, and everyone got to see a different side of her. It’s comforting to see the staff not even phased by the “tantrums” these two like to throw. I started bringing Bronn and Arya to this pet hospital when they were just a few months old. Even after moving states, I willingly travel over four hours for our annual appointments and any issues that arise. The front desk staff are incredibly polite and make you feel seen and heard. Every time I call, my concerns are addressed with kindness and efficiency. The care given to these animals is definitely full of love and skill. I can't imagine going anywhere else. If you want veterinarians and staff who love your fur baby as much as you do, this is the place to go!
