So beyond happy and peaceful about the care my cat received. Friendly , kind staff. Listens to concerns. I felt heard and my animal cared for. I recommend this vet office 100%. Thank you for your awesome care! Lots of parking, handicap accessible, clean and well kept. Extremely reasonable prices. Great effort to be very accommodating .

I appreciate they understood I was running behind for my appointment. They didn’t make me wait longer because of that. The vet techs were proactive in getting my cat seen for stress colitis and the veterinarian provided great information for my better understanding for treatment.

We have been going to Augusta Animal Hospital for nearly 20 years. Dr. Hott was an amazing veterinarian and had staff that truly cared about what they were doing. It is unfortunate that the longer we continue to use this great new building and new vet the worse the conditions and treatment are. The little old building off of Ford Hill road was full of care that you could feel. The nice new building off of 50 is convenient but lacks common courtesy from the front desk staff, and most of the vet techs. There is one vet tech who has stayed through the transition that is truly the only saving grace for the new business, she is the only reason that I am not updating the review to 1 star. So, after 20 years we will be looking for a new vet because I can't support paying for this kind of treatment. Walking in the front door you are met with front desk staff that is too rude to provide common decency and respect. That is far from what the Augusta Animal Hospital name was built on.

While the care itself may be competent, the pricing is excessive for this area. West Virginia families live on West Virginia incomes, and the fees here feel out of step with the community. Veterinary care shouldn’t feel financially overwhelming for routine services - ROUTINE SERVICES. I have two dogs and have been a client for a while, so this is not based on a single visit. While the staff is courteous, I have grown increasingly uncomfortable with both the pricing and the approach to care. Costs consistently feel very high for our area. For example, nail trims for two dogs were $50, and two Bordetella vaccinations totaled $150. Every office visit is charged per dog, which doubles the base cost. What concerned me most, however, was the treatment recommendation for my 14-year-old beagle. She has a large fatty mass (over 9 inches in diameter), and surgery was strongly recommended. Given her age, I sought a second opinion with her former veterinarian. He confirmed the mass was fatty but advised against surgery due to her age and the high surgical risk given the location of the mass. I chose not to proceed. I also declined additional testing for Cushing’s disease after being quoted several hundred dollars. The second opinion veterinarian performed appropriate evaluation at roughly a quarter of the cost. Since stepping back from recommended procedures, I have felt a noticeable shift in engagement. Over time, this has left me questioning whether the focus is more on upselling services than on balanced, individualized care — particularly for senior pets. I encourage other pet owners to ask detailed questions, request written estimates, and consider second opinions when facing major vet care decisions.
